Michael Vick has been in the news the past few days for something besides his fumbles.
Vick recently tweeted pictures of him and his lovely daughter studying their respective crafts.
In one photo Vick had what looked like doggy treats on the table. He quickly removed that photo from twitter and posted another one.
By that time social media, and sports media were all over it. Vick initially declined to speak about his personal matters.
Today Vick changed his mind and decided to release a statement on the matter.
“I understand the strong emotions by some people about our family’s decision to care for a pet. As a father, it is important to make sure my children develop a healthy relationship with animals.”
“I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all of God’s creatures with kindness and respect. Our pet is well cared for and loved as a member of our family.”
“This is an opportunity to break the cycle. To that end, I will continue to honor my commitment to animal welfare and be an instrument of positive change.”
I personally could care less if Mike Vick owns a dog.
I am of the opinion that he got the dog for his kids to enjoy and bond with.
I can and would bet my life that he wouldn’t do anything to harm that dog or put it in any danger.
He served his time, he is now off probation, and doing the things he needs to do as a man.
Focus less on his family life, and more on what we as sports fans and media should focus on, which is those damn fumbles.
